Rack Repair

Massey Admin - Monday, January 17, 2011

Damaged storage racking is dangerous. Product loss and personnel injury can result from a rack collapse.

We repair both roll-formed and structural rack. All repair components are in stock at our warehouse. Massey will provide insurance certificates prior to working on your premises.

Some areas to look at in your storage rack system:

  1. Upright frames should be square and plumb.
  2. The bottom one, two, or three feet of your column should be undamaged, If they have been hit by a lift truck they can be crippled. We can repair this structural instability on the job-site or in our shop.
  3. Upright frames if unenclosed- should be anchored to the floor.
  4. Shelf beams-if they are deflected more than a 1/2 – the shelf may be in danger of collapse.

Please call us, we give estimates and quotes to repair the above equipment.

Slotted Angle

Massey Admin - Monday, October 18, 2010

Slotted angle was introduced to the U.S. market in the 1950’s by Acme Steel Company. It was an immediate success.

Slotted angle (Latch On) is used to build any structure you would normally build out of 2” x 2” x ¼” angle or lighter.

The following can be built out of Slotted angle:

  • 1.       Storage rack (hand load only)
  • 2.       Shelving
  • 3.       Carts
  • 4.       Tables
  • 5.       Any structure or framing around a plant or warehouse
  • 6.       Ideal for a plant maintenance department

You are only limited by your imagination- Please consider it your giant erector set.

Slotted Angle offers the following benefits:

  • 1.       Low cost
  • 2.       Quick assembly
  • 3.       No special tools
  • 4.       Marked on 3” centers to ensure adjustability.

We stock slotted angle at our St. Louis Warehouse.

Bulk Storage rack

Bulk storage racks are commonly used in warehouses and storage operations to store individual pieces and cartons that are hand loaded – (not palletized or forklift loaded)

Bulk Racks have clear spans from 4’ to 8’. They are usually 8’ to 12’ high by 2’ to 4’ deep. You will notice most are designed to use plywood or chip board, (4’x 8’ sheets). Load capacities range from 2000# per shelf down to 200# per shelf.

Benefits:

  • 1.       Low Cost
  • 2.       Ease of Construction
  • 3.       No special tools required

Massey Equipment Stocks the following bulk racking:

  • 1.       Interlake-Mecalux Slotted Angle
