Warehouse Door Considerations

Massey Admin - Wednesday, May 19, 2010
  • A good rule of thumb design for the quantity of truck loading doors in a warehouse is one 9' x 9' door per 10,000 sq ft of warehouse space.
  • On the flip side, remember you might require a much larger door to get equipment and long products into your building.

  • Your warehouse doors should have good perimeter sealing top, bottom and sides. This will reduce heat loss.

  • The best sealing doors are straight vertical lift doors. They are more costly and you need two times your interior height plus 24" to make them work.

  • The least expensive doors in initial cost are the overhead type.
